Paving in Kallaroo from our Landsdale base
Kallaroo is about 12 km west of IBP Paving's base in Landsdale, measured in a straight line. We relay and replace driveways, pave alfresco areas and paths, sort out pavers lifted by roots, and install soakwells to City of Joondalup guidance. Our team has over 20 years in Perth paving, and every job comes with a lifetime workmanship warranty.
Springfield in the 1970s, Northshore in the 1980s
Kallaroo was one of the Whitfords suburbs rezoned in 1969 and named in 1970, starting as the Springfield estate. The land west of Dampier Avenue came later, as the Northshore estate of the mid to late 1980s. The two halves sit at different points in a paving life.
In the older Springfield streets, the driveways and paths are around fifty years old. Paving of that age has often sunk, cracked or been patched with odd pavers, and the choice is a lift and relay if the original pavers are sound, or a replacement if they are not. Northshore homes are younger, and their typical problem is a driveway that has dropped where the cars run and around the soakwell lid. Across both, owners are adding or enlarging alfresco areas at the back, and each new roof needs its own soakwell capacity.

Verges and street trees under Joondalup's guidelines
Where a Kallaroo verge carries a street tree, the City of Joondalup is firm about protecting it, and it also caps how much of the verge can be hard surface. Before any front paving or a new crossover, it helps to know where those limits sit, because they decide the shape of the job before anyone picks a paver.
On a standard lot outside an HOA, verge hardstand is limited to 75 m2 or 50% of the verge, whichever is less, or 150 m2 or 50% on a corner. Brick paving and cement based materials are allowed. Keep at least 1 m, a 4 m2 clearance, between a street tree and any hardstand or crossover, and set a crossover 1 to 1.5 m from street trees. The City does not prune or remove trees for non essential crossovers or verge paving, and unauthorised pruning or removal is an offence.

The practical result is that a verge tree stays put, and the paving design works around it. Where roots have already pushed up a driveway or path, our lifted pavers and tree roots page explains the options that leave the tree alone. On the drainage side, the City expects owners to keep stormwater within their own boundary and suggests one downpipe for about every 15 m2 of roof; see our City of Joondalup soakwell requirements page for sizes and setbacks.
Sand with limestone rocks underneath
Most of Kallaroo usually sits on Quindalup or Spearwood sand over Tamala Limestone. When the Springfield school oval was formed in 1972 it was described as "sand and limestone rocks", and the same mix can turn up when digging a soakwell. The sand drains fast and compacts well under a crushed limestone base, but rock can stop an excavation short, so our quotes allow for breaking it out or for a broader, shallower unit.
A saltwater wedge lies under the beach strip and there is no named wetland in the suburb, so groundwater is unlikely to limit soakwell depth. Salt in the air does matter in the west. Lots within about 2 km of the coast, along the stretch where the coastal shared path runs beside Kallaroo's beach, get exposure grade pavers and a sealer in our specifications.
Streets named for shipwrecks
Most of Kallaroo's streets are named after shipwrecks, the Batavia among them. It is a handy way to tell the estates apart when booking a quote: give us the street and we can usually place the house in Springfield or Northshore before we arrive, which tells us roughly what age of paving to expect and whether the job is likely to be a relay or a full replacement.
Kallaroo's neighbours
Hillarys lies to the south and Mullaloo to the north along the coast. Inland are Craigie and Padbury, with Duncraig further south east. Every suburb we cover is listed on areas we service.
