Iluka paving: how we take on work here
Iluka is about 15 km north west of IBP Paving in Landsdale, measured in a straight line, so we take work here by arrangement. Send us the job details first, with what you want done, rough sizes and a few photos, and we will confirm whether we can take it on and arrange a time to measure up. The work covers driveway relays, alfresco paving, sealing and soakwells, built to City of Joondalup guidance and backed by a lifetime workmanship warranty and over 20 years in the trade.
Re-laying 1990s and 2000s paving
Most homes in Iluka usually date from the 1990s and 2000s. Paving laid with them is now somewhere around 25 to 30 years old, which is the point where a well built surface starts to show its base. The common signs are a driveway that dips along the wheel tracks, a hollow beside the soakwell lid, and edge pavers that have crept outward.
For most of that, the answer is a lift and relay: take up the pavers, rebuild and compact the base, and put them back. Isolated hollows can be handled as a sunken paving repair without disturbing the whole area. Where owners want a new look, a fresh driveway in a larger format paver is an option, and many add or extend an alfresco at the same time. Pavers that are sound but faded and stained respond well to cleaning and sealing.

Changing a crossover under Joondalup's guidelines
Relays often extend to the crossover, and Joondalup makes that simpler than some councils. Here is what the City's documents state.
No application is needed to modify an existing crossover, though non-standard crossovers need Planning Services approval. A single dwelling crossover is 3.0 to 6.0 m wide, at least 0.5 m from a side boundary and 6.0 m from an intersection kerb tangent, and the footpath must stay continuous through it. The City pays a one-off $375 subsidy for a first crossover, or for replacing an old bitumen crossover, built to the guidelines and claimed within six months.

Drainage has its own rules. Owners must confine stormwater runoff within the property, and the City's guide is one downpipe per about 15 m2 of roof, with downpipes no more than 12 m apart. A soakwell needs a setback from buildings and boundaries of at least its own width where the width is at least the depth, and the City does not recommend soakwells where clearances are narrow. On tight side setbacks that pushes the soakwell under the driveway or into the back garden. More on this is on our City of Joondalup soakwell requirements page.
Coastal sand, salt and the foreshore
Iluka typically sits on Quindalup sand near the beach over Spearwood sand and Tamala Limestone further back. It drains quickly, which suits soakwells, and compacts well under a crushed limestone base, although a deep dig can meet rock. Below the coast is a saltwater wedge.
Most of the suburb is likely within about 1.5 km of the ocean, so salt exposure is high. We specify exposure grade pavers and recommend sealing. Where a home backs onto foreshore bushland, as some of the westernmost streets may, paving against the walls in place of mulch gives a non combustible margin around the house and a clean edge that is easy to sweep free of leaves and sand.
Beaumaris Beach and the Iluka Sports Complex
Iluka's two public anchors are Beaumaris Beach on the coast and the Iluka Sports Complex inland, home of Joondalup City Football Club and other district clubs. Busy club venues and a popular beach mean parking pressure can vary through the week, so for homes close to either we agree a delivery time for pavers and base when the truck can reach the kerb and the pallets can be set down without blocking the footpath or a neighbour's driveway.
